Welcome to the inside of the AOMC’s newest work, barrish.
On May 27th of 2011, the AOMC (pre)premiered barrish at La MaMa etc. as part of La MaMa Moves! While barrish functions fully as a performance work in and of itself, it is also an experiment in creating a truly transmutable piece – one that is able to transform itself for different spaces, castings, schedules, budgets, and audiences. As we continue to build barrish over the next year (final premiere tentatively scheduled for Summer/Fall 2012), we want to invite you to play an intimate role in its creation.
barrish is now open for curation –
not just to presenters, but to you as an individual.
We invite you to curate one of our in-process showings at your home, apartment, or space – you can throw a party, tell no one, live stream it, use it to fundraise, or have it with dinner. We have something for all spaces, budgets, audiences, and occasions—take a look and see which sections strike you. You can also browse by tags (describing each section’s content and/or style), number of dancers, and status (from not yet to finished). Each in-process showing could feature any number of sections, combined in any number of ways.
Additionally, curating a showing gets you much more than just a performance—by participating in a discussion about what’s interesting and important to you, you’ll become one of the piece’s major underwriters, receiving credit at all future performances of the work, and engaging with it in a radically intimate way. Check out our frequently asked questions, or get the discussion started by expressing your interest!
*UPDATE: check out our showings page to see where we’ll be performing next, and who’s curating us!
